Few people realize that if their beloved pet escaped the yard it could be put to death before they even have time to post a flyer.  The Governer of California's budget proposal includes a suspension of “The Hayden Bill,” thereby reducing the amount of time that animals are housed in shelters before they can be euthanized from 6 days to 3 days.  Northbay Animal Hospital is concerned that this legislation does not allow enough time for owners to locate their lost pets.  Because of this new legislation, we are strongly encouraging all of our clients to microchip their pets to prevent a very possible tragedy, should their pets end up at a shelter.
